“It takes all of us, a village of everyday people, to stand up and commit to making a meaningful difference in the lives of abused and neglected children. It starts very simply with one volunteer at a time.”

Judge Glenda A. Hatchett

Who Can be an Advocate

City CASA advocates are ordinary people making an extraordinary impact on our most vulnerable children.

You don’t have to be a lawyer, a social worker or a parent to be an effective City CASA advocate. No specific experience or education is required – just a desire to help and a willingness to speak up.

An effective CASA advocate is a mature, reliable adult who can be objective under difficult circumstances; a passionate person who can relate to people from all backgrounds and lifestyles; someone who can work cooperatively with a team, but who can also speak up and defend an independent position even if it is in conflict with the team - but in the best interest of the child.

As a City CASA advocate, you bring a fresh perspective and energy to the child welfare system. Your creative ideas and highest expectations in serving our children make all the difference.
