1,000 Children
Still Need A Voice

Voices for Children (formerly St. Louis Voices for Children) is an organization whose mission it is to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the City of St. Louis.

They investigate and monitor the circumstances of these children’s lives, maintaining the child welfare system’s focus on the CHILD. As the eyes and ears of the Judge in the community, a Voices for Children advocate provides to the court a full picture of a child's life, and they recommend what they think is best for him or her. It's an awesome responsibility, but one that more than 280 St. Louisans have taken on, because they care.

More than 3,000 children were in foster care last year in the city alone. They spend more than 3 years in foster care, on average, more than a year longer than anywhere else in the state, unless they have a Voices for Children child advocate. Help these children by learning more about them, volunteering your time or your ideas and resources. You can have a positive impact on the future life of our city by helping these child victims of abuse and neglect.

You can help them move to a home, where they will learn the things all children deserve and need: to love and be loved, to work, to be responsible, to trust again.

"This group of people is truly the advocate of the child. They help the court see the child in the midst of an often complicated legal system. The goal of the court is that the decisions made be in the best interest of the child in question. Voices for Children is driven toward helping fulfill this goal by focusing on the child."
      - Brendan Ryan, Judge,  22nd Judicial Court of Missouri, Retired

Safe Permanent Homes
Dianne, 7, is sensitive and unsure. She needs a family that will patiently ensure her that she is staying forever.
Jelende, 9, is the oldest of seven and has been a “mother” too long.
Stacey, 6, is shy, but loves to show her affection by doing hair. She needs to be in a family that can shower her with love.  more...

Voices for Children believes it is every child's right to have a safe and permanent home within a child's sense of time. Therefore, we advocate aggressively on behalf of these children, knowing that what is "soon" for adults may be an eternity to a child.
