They investigate and monitor the circumstances of these children’s lives, maintaining the child welfare system’s focus on the CHILD. As the eyes and ears of the Judge in the community, a Voices for Children advocate provides to the court a full picture of a child's life, and they recommend what they think is best for him or her. It's an awesome responsibility, but one that more than 280 St. Louisans have taken on, because they care.
More than 3,000 children were in foster care last year in the city alone. They spend more than 3 years in foster care, on average, more than a year longer than anywhere else in the state, unless they have a Voices for Children child advocate. Help these children by learning more about them, volunteering your time or your ideas and resources. You can have a positive impact on the future life of our city by helping these child victims of abuse and neglect. You can help them move to a home, where they will learn the things all children deserve and need: to love and be loved, to work, to be responsible, to trust again.

Voices for Children believes it is every child's right to have a safe and permanent home within a child's sense of time. Therefore, we advocate aggressively on behalf of these children, knowing that what is "soon" for adults may be an eternity to a child. |
