Quilters for Kids

Voices for Children is the official charity of the Missouri Chapter of Quilts for Kids. Quilters and those interested in learning to cut fabrics, tie knots etc., are encouraged to support the efforts of Quilts for Kids as they solicit donations of quality 100% cotton fabrics and craft twin-sized quilts for teenagers in foster care. Quilts for Kids donations provide teenagers with a memorable, valuable household item as they embark upon independent living. When a child reaches a milestone in their life, Voices for Children volunteer advocates are able to select a quilt in celebration of this event. Such milestones may include reunification with their families, guardianship, adoption, moving into their first apartment, or a high school graduation. Often times because children are removed from their homes without notice and are not able to take their personal belongings, these handmade quilts fill these gaps. These quilts give children ownership in a situation where they often feel powerless.
